FightMND celebrates 10th anniversary of Big Freeze at the ‘G in style

FightMND, one of McLardy McShane’s long-term community partners, celebrated the 10th anniversary of its famous Big Freeze at the ‘G in style on Monday as the organisation surpassed the $100 million mark for funds raised across its history.

While the final tally is not expected for a week, the total of this year’s donations is expected to exceed last year’s previous best of $2.3 million, with the hope of reaching $3 million.

Members of the McLardy McShane network were among those who attended the Big Freeze 10 Luncheon prior to the game, hearing from Fight MND CEO Dr Fiona McIntosh, Coles CEO Leah Weckert and Leanne Sklavenitis who was diagnosed with MND in 2017.

Sklavenitis’ presentation was especially poignant, as the 53-year-old mother discussed, through the use of a communication aid, the gradual decline of her body due to the disease following a 32-year career as a fitness instructor.

Earlier this year, Sklavenitis published a book titled ‘Finding Awesomeness Through Adversity’ and, with the help of husband Steve, the pair announced the donation of 10% of the proceeds from sales of her book to be donated to Fight MND.

McLardy McShane is immensely proud to support Fight MND, having raised over $3 million for the Company’s community partners across its history.
